How we group domains (without the codes)

For over a decade, GSQI has organized its work into domain “families” that map the education and credentialing ecosystem end-to-end. Domains define the scope of GSQI standards and guidance.

  • Academic Education

    • Higher Education: Governance, academic integrity, OBE, research environment, learner success.
    • K–12 Schooling: Curriculum alignment, pedagogy, assessment, SEL, school leadership.
    • STEM Education: Lab infrastructure, inquiry methods, faculty capability, inclusion pathways.
    • TVET & Polytechnics: Job-aligned skills, apprenticeships, industry engagement, placement readiness.
  • Credentialing Ecosystem

    • Professional Certification Bodies: Exam design, psychometrics, ethics, renewal/CPD, portability.
    • Teacher & Faculty Certification Programs: Competency benchmarks, evaluation, continuous development.
    • Micro-Credentials & Digital Badging: Stackability, transparency, verification, interoperability.
    • Learning Assessment & Testing Bodies: Validity, reliability, fairness, exam security.
  • Delivery & Modality

    • Online & Digital Learning Providers: Instructional design online, learner analytics, accessibility, security.
    • EdTech Platforms & Digital Tools: Pedagogical validity, privacy, data protection, accessibility.
  • Governance & Assurance

    • Accrediting & QA Bodies (education sector): Governance, transparency, due process, conflict-of-interest safeguards.
  • Societal & Workforce Outcomes

    • Workforce Development & Employability:  Competency mapping, labor-market linkage, outcome tracking.
    • Public Sector Training Institutions: Policy relevance, ethics, evaluation rigor, performance improvement.
    • Healthcare & Medical Training (education focus): Clinical education quality and safety.
    • ESG & Sustainability Education: Climate literacy, ethics, global citizenship integration.

Domain maturity labels

To keep it simple, we use three labels across domains (shown inside the catalog, not here):

  • Established:  Active standards with maintenance cycles.
  • In Consultation: Drafts open for public comment.
  • In Development: Being scoped or drafted by a Technical Committee.

GSQI’s first decade focused on education and credentialing. Additional public-interest sectors will be introduced in due course using the same open, consensus-based process.
